One of the aspects of the fake identity I often think of making is that he's going to have interests more "palatable" in most webcomic circles (mostly the ones I'm banned from). I'd often talk about my interests too much (infodumping?) and said interests are those not many people in the community are interested in (if there are any people in the community that have those interests beside me at all), and that's a common reason I get banned. So in order to be liked, the fake identity has to have interests that are way more common: 90s'-2000s' anime, Lord of the Rings, Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul (I wouldn't say that it's a rare interest in the webcomics community), etc. and as a result, more people will be willing to talk about "my" interests, or at least read/listen to "me" talking about them, which would result in less bans.

Except there's still a problem: One, I actually don't really have those interests, so there's a huge chance I'll fuck up the details and someone who actually has those interests (quite a high chance) will call me out and it'll all unravel from there. Two, the moment someone mentions my actual interests, it's OVER. But since they're very rare, it'll be quite obvious that it's bait to see if my fake identity is actually me, or something like that. But you know, I don't think I'll be able to hold myself off.

But there's one more thing that I realized very recently: What if the niche and looked-down-upon interests that I am desperately trying to hide in favor of the more popular, liked, "compatible" interests of the fake identity suddenly becomes useful/needed?

For example, as I said before, there is a huge amount of people in the webcomics community that like 90s' anime, and people can easily find someone that is knowledgeable on 90s' anime. Sure, lots of opportunities, but the fake identity might have trouble getting that opportunity because he will have to compete against a ton of people in order to do so (not to mention I would be literally faking having the interest which causes a plethora of other problems). But Alan Turing studies is quite a niche interest in the webcomics community, so it's quite difficult to find someone that is quite knowledgeable in it, and while opportunities that require someone knowledgeable on Alan Turing studies rarely pop up, there is little competition, increasing my chances, and it's an actual interest of mine, and I am actually competent in it (at least I think so).

Maybe I could mingle with academics and science communicators instead of trying to force myself back into those specific webcomic circles? I mean I already am doing so, and I am actually happy and successful and can maintain relationships without incident! Hell, I apparently got to the position that many people there that know me, whenever they see something Turing-related, they message me and say something like "Have you seen this?" (No complaints by the way, in fact please continue doing so).

I have a fucking niche.
